Traditional Kanjivarams characterised by the classic temple motif on the korvai border. The body and border are contrasting to create the classic kanchipuram style of designing contrast borders. Temple border design is inspired by the forms of Gopurams – the majestic temple gates of South India. The saree motif, with its rows of large triangles resembling temple architecture, has been intricately woven into the body of this art symbol. The interlocking of a Korvai, with the Zari border and body, gives many unique designs.
Six Temple Rekku - A richly detailed temple border with a six pointed temple gopuram design in small triangles and a single triangle gopuram as a spacer between each six pointed gopuram. This is the pattern in which the korvai joint is woven between the body and border of the saree.
Pillaiyar Mukku - This is a five pointed temple design with five triangles and a single triangle gopuram as spacer. This pattern could be designed on one side of the border or on both sides of the saree.
